About Us

Iowa Machinery & Supply opened for business in 1903. Our original location was in the heart of downtown Des Moines at 317 Court Avenue and we have since moved to our current location at 1711 Second Avenue in Des Moines. Iowa Machinery also has a location in Eldridge to serve our customers across Iowa and Western Illinois.

Originally, Iowa Machinery & Supply set out to meet the needs of Iowa manufacturing in the 1900 era by supplying products such as belting, hose, steel pipe, steam pumps and engineering equipment. We expanded our product offering in the Depression era by offering mill, metalworking, factory and contractor supplies in addition to industrial machinery. Today we continue to offer expert advice on a full line of industrial products for manufacturing, metalworking, industrial woodworking, maintenance and machine tools.

On December 8, 2003, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry recognized Iowa Machinery & Supply as a Century Business.

Since 2001, Iowa Machinery & Supply has belonged to the MH Equipment family of material handling dealerships that spreads from Nebraska to West Virginia. There are currently 3 regions of MH Equipment with over 25 locations spread across the mid-section of the U.S.

At Iowa Machinery & Supply, we also feel that it is our duty to make a positive impact in our communities and we do this by coming along side our employees in their charitable efforts. For this purpose, in 2001 we established our His First Foundation which contributes 10% of our earned blessings to support employee requests in the areas of faith, secular good works and acts of kindness.
